Jürgen Jansen

Jürgen Jansen ranks among the defining figures of contemporary German painting. Drawing upon his studies in biology—as well as his artistic training under the internationally renowned artists Per Kirkeby and Jan Dibbets—he has developed a distinctive visual language situated between scientific precision, organic growth, and painterly freedom.
His works evoke microscopic worlds, energetic fields, or organic processes, unfolding a fascinating tension between abstraction and the observation of nature. In Jansen’s works, color, resin, reflection, and texture coalesce into multilayered pictorial spaces that transform with every viewing, engaging the beholder directly.
Jansen’s painting is characterized by a spirit of experimentation, a keen awareness of materials, and an extraordinary sensitivity to light, surface, and depth. With numerous international exhibitions and a continuous presence in prestigious galleries, he stands as one of the independent voices within a style of painting that uniquely interweaves natural science, perception, and emotional experience.
