We start the year of the European Cultural Capital with László Lakner, an artist, who achieved a great deal as an artist e.g. by participating at the “documenta” and the “Venice Biennial” a number of times. But he is also an artist, who lived and worked in Essen for many years, and who experienced important spots of his biography here: Emigrating from Hungary he had his first scholarship in Essen in 1968, the purchase of a large-size work by the Museum Folkwang in 1970, Professor at the Essen University 1982-2000.
Out of this teaching have grown some well-known artists, three of those we will show in our exhibition: Dirk Hupe, Jürgen Paas and Eberhard Ross, who all had international museum- and gallery exhibitions and artfair participations.
